MC Consultants is seeking an experienced General Contractor/Roofing Contractor and Consultant.

Industry experience should include leak investigation and failure analysis, evaluation of roofing and waterproofing systems to determine cause(s) of loss and/or alleged defects, and to provide alternatives for repair or replacement, as well as forensic and litigation support for pre-construction, course of construction, and post-construction claims.

Preferred candidate shall have a deep construction background in roofing systems, as well as above-grade and below-grade waterproofing systems in residential, commercial and industrial buildings and has served in a forensic consulting role. The candidate’s experience should include site investigations, claims analysis, expert meetings and meditations, and preferably depositions and trials.

Common issues or claims that a forensic structural analysis will be used for are as follows: shallow and deep foundation systems, structural slab design, podium design, framing, beams and columns, shearwalls, anchoring systems, roof structures, seismic analyses, vibrations from adjacent construction, shoring, weatherproofing and cladding interactions.

Candidates will have experience in the geotechnical design of major projects with a thorough knowledge of industry standard design practices and codes. Specifically, having experience designing systems and determines the suitability of the ground for use in construction projects and other engineering projects by analyzing its physical characteristics. The role of the forensic Geotechnical Engineer would be to have extensive experience in designing foundations, retaining walls, embankments, tunnels, and other structures that can withstand soil and rock pressures. In this role in particular would analyze a project, site conditions, and/or construction from a geotechnical standpoint. These analyses would usually be performed post design of a project to check the calculations and engineering assumptions or during and/or after the construction of a project to provide quality assurance or address issues that arise during or after construction. Appropriate candidates will have experience in advanced geotechnical analysis and the ability to develop, analyze, and evaluate detailed construction documents, drawings, and/or specifications.  Common issues or claims that a forensic geotechnical analysis will be used for are as follows: construction vibrations, improper compaction testing, deficient installation(s), expansive soils, collapsible soils, settlement of shallow and deep compacted fill soils, heave of foundation systems, moisture intrusion below slabs, soil erosion, sulfate exposure, roadway and parking area pavement Failures, slope stability failures, foundation failures, excavation failures, site quantity analysis, and differing site condition disputes.

Candidates must have the ability to evaluate and/or provide remediation scope(s) with underpinning, micro piles, injection piers, grout injection, etc.  Analyses may also include providing opinions regarding the standard of care of construction.  Candidates that have experience with foundation systems for high rise construction will receive specific consideration, for this is a rapidly growing forensic investigation market.
